Fabulous Friday: Happy Hippo

I had this whole Friday post put together about Alexander Pushkin and then I went to dinner with my dad last night and things took a turn for the silly (like they do).

This song, which is totally infectious, was playing in the restaurant and we were trying to figure out when it was first released. Dad said the 80's and I said the 60's. Turns out we were both wrong, it was first recorded in 1939. Anyway, I ran across this video and Pushkin got pushed aside.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

I didn't realize that it was first recorded in 1939. I can remember it being in the Charts much later than that, must have been the seventies!
Had a little giggle. Now that tune will be going round my head all weekend!

LOL I have actually seen that before! I swear that silly dog reminds me of my Charlie dog they don't look alike, but he is goofy like that.

This is one of my all time favorites!!! The Tokens recorded it in the 60's. Anyway, we were eating at a German restaurant in Vancouver, WA, when the waiters came out and sang this to us. It had nothing to do with Germany, but it was perfect entertainment and made many happy memories for us and our kids. This is just what I needed before bed. Now I'll be hearing it all night in my head...it's a good one to listen to all night if one must. Enjoy your Sunday, Kathi

I used to use this video when I was teaching my Year ! class! As soon as this came on, they knew it was 'tidy-up time'!

Love it!!
I remember the song from the eighties and the people who sang it wearing animal skins a la Tarzan (well actually they didn't sing it, they mimed!)
